Legacy Jazz Ensemble: The Story

Aubrey Matsila is a trombonist hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa. His journey with the trombone began during his high school years, where he discovered his passion for this remarkable instrument. Aubrey's dedication and natural talent quickly earned him recognition, leading him to collaborate with esteemed musical ensembles and forming the Legcay Jazz Ensemble. Having played with the Johannesburg Youth Orchestra, Aubrey honed his skills in a vibrant and diverse musical environment. He also had the privilege of working with renowned artists such as Mandla Mlangeni as a member of the Amandla Freedom Ensemble and recording with Sipho 'Hotstix' Mabuse. These experiences allowed Aubrey to immerse himself in the rich tapestry of South African music and develop his unique voice as a trombonist. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Science at Stellenbosch University, Aubrey continues to nurture his musical passion.
